There’s something about Glamis at night that’s hard to explain unless you’ve actually been there. During the day, it feels endless. The dunes stretch forever, the sky is wide open, and every camp looks unique enough to remember. But at night? Everything changes. The sand turns black. The wind picks up and suddenly every direction looks exactly the same.
It started like every other trip. We had the toys unloaded, music going, camp chairs out, and the fire rolling while the sun disappeared behind the dunes. There were lights everywhere across the desert RVs, toy haulers, campfires, people flying across the sand.
The whole place felt alive. We parked pretty far out that weekend because Glamis was packed. Hundreds of camps spread across the dunes. At the time, we thought: “There’s no way we won’t remember where we parked.” Big mistake.
A few hours later we took the Side by Sides out for a night ride. If you’ve ever ridden Glamis at night, you know the feeling: The cold desert air, The sound of cars ripping through the dunes, Lights everywhere in the distance It’s one of the best experiences you can have. But after a while… everything starts blending together. Every direction looks identical.
We eventually decided to head back to camp. At first, nobody was worried. We figured: “We’ll recognize it when we get close.” But after 20 minutes… Nothing looked familiar. Every camp had: Flags, Music, Small lights, Fire pits, Similar RVs And from a distance? They all looked exactly the same. We drove in circles trying to find our setup. One of us said: “I think it’s over this way.” Another person swore it was the opposite direction. At that point the fun feeling started disappearing. Phones barely helped. Landmarks looked different at night. And honestly… we were getting frustrated.
Then something happened that stuck with me. Way off in the distance, above all the RVs and trailers, we saw a single tall glowing whip standing high in the air. A bright, elevated beam light that was impossible to miss. You could see it from far away because it sat above everything else. One of my buddies looked at it and said: “That’s actually genius.” And he was right. That camp never had to search for their setup. Their campsite found them.
The next morning we couldn’t stop talking about it. That’s when we realized something: Most campsite lighting is too low to matter. Small lights disappear behind RVs, trailers, and crowds. But height changes everything. The higher your visibility point is, the easier it becomes to locate your setup from almost anywhere. That experience is one of the biggest reasons DipWhipz exists today.
We wanted something that: Could stand high above camp, Be seen from long distances, Look incredible at night and actually perform in real environments like Glamis
That’s why DipWhipz was designed to extend up to 25 feet tall using: Five removable 5-foot sections, Premium high-output LEDs, Strong mounting systems and carefully built components assembled here in the USA We’ve put serious time and effort into refining every whip because we know the difference visibility makes when you’re out in the dunes, RV parks, festivals, or large campgrounds.
Today, DipWhipz is more than just a campsite locator. It’s: A visibility system, A luxury campsite upgrade and a way to stand out anywhere you camp because once you’ve experienced getting lost in the dark surrounded by hundreds of camps…
You never want it happening again.
