It started off like a perfect night in Glamis.
The air had finally cooled down, the sky was clear, and the dunes were alive with lights stretching for miles. Camps were glowing, music was echoing in the distance, and everything felt wide open. We headed out for what was supposed to be a quick night ride. Just a few laps. Nothing crazy. At least… that’s what we thought.
The Moment Everything Looked the Same
After about 30–40 minutes of riding, we decided to head back. Simple, right? Not even close. As soon as we turned around, everything changed. Every direction looked the same. Every hill blended into the next. And worst of all… Every camp looked identical. Rows and rows of the same style camp lights. The same height poles. The same colors. It felt like we were riding in circles, even when we weren’t.
We tried to retrace our path, but in the dark, nothing looked familiar anymore.
“Wait… Wasn’t It Over Here?”
We picked a direction and committed. Five minutes passed… nothing. Ten minutes… still nothing. Then doubt started creeping in. “Was it behind that ridge?” “Did we go too far?” “Are we even close?” We stopped a few times, shut everything off, and just looked around hoping something would stand out. But it didn’t. Because our camp locator looked exactly like everyone else’s. Same height. Same glow. Same everything. There was nothing unique about it.
Hours Go By
What should’ve been a quick ride turned into hours of searching.
We burned gas.
We got frustrated.
We split up for a bit (bad idea).
And honestly… it stopped being fun.
At one point, we even started heading toward camps just to ask if they’d seen ours. That’s when it really hit us: We weren’t lost because we didn’t know the dunes… We were lost because we had no way to find our own camp.
Then We Saw It
Way off in the distance, something caught our eye. It wasn’t just another basic camp light. It was tall. Bright. Different. A full LED whip tower like beacon standing way above everything else, glowing in a way that actually stood out from the chaos. You could spot it instantly. That’s when we rolled up and saw it was a DipWhipz setup. And it clicked immediately. “That’s what we needed.” Not just a light… Something you could recognize from anywhere.
Finally Finding Our Camp
Not long after that, we eventually found our own camp. But by then, the damage was done. What should’ve been a fun, quick ride turned into hours of frustration, wasted time, and stress. All because we blended in.
We Switched After That Trip
After that night, we didn’t even question it. We checked out DipWhipz, saw how their setups worked, and it just made sense. Tall enough to stand above the dunes. Bright enough to see from far away. Unique enough to actually recognize. We picked one up before the next trip.
The Difference Is Night and Day
Now? We don’t even think about it. We ride as far as we want, for as long as we want. When it’s time to head back, we spot our camp almost instantly. No guessing. No stress. No wasted time.
If You’ve Ever Been There… You Already Know
If you’ve ridden at night in Glamis, you know exactly how easy it is to lose your sense of direction. You also know… All camp lights are not the same.
Don’t Blend In. Stand Out.
Because finding your camp shouldn’t take hours.
